Thank goodness it's Friday!

Today is an extra special Friday.
Why? You ask?
Because I only have to work a half day,
then it is off on a road trip to Baton Rouge.
And who doesn't want to spend 7 hours in a car with this guy?
I know I do.

In all honesty, I really love our road trips!
7 hours in the car really isn't all that bad when you are with your best friend.
Corny, I know, but hey it's true.

David's family has a big 4th of July party every year.
And I do mean big.
They cook out for everyone on a huge bbq pit built underground.
It is so cool, but SO hot outside.
I hope I don't melt and live to blog about it all.

I hope everyone has a great pre 4th of July weekend.
Go link up your Friday!

It's ok...

Whew, happy Thursday party people.
Time to link up!

It's ok that it is 9:30 and I am finally sitting down. And blogging.
Even though I STILL have to pack for our road trip this weekend.
And be awake at 5 am. I'll be needing this.

It's ok that I bought "4th of July" outfits for me and the husband.
I tweeted about it earlier. And I have no shame.
They aren't ridiculously cheesy, just a subtle patriotic look.
At least that is what I am telling myself

It's ok that im ready for winter. Right?
It is over 100 everyday now and I just can't handle the heat.

It's ok that I went to visit my baboo instead of other "important" things.
I mean who can resist??

I love him!

Summer bucket list

Well, I already posted this on Holly's blog,
but I wanted to share it on here too!
I know we are well into summer but this is my summer bucket list.

I kind of feel like summer has snuck up on me due to our wedding and honeymoon festivities,
and today I am going to share with you my goals and bucket list for this summer. I feel like
being a newlywed just in time for summer will make this summer a special one, and I want to
make it a good one. Being a newlywed puts you on cloud nine...add summer to that and you
can't ask for much else:) I have narrowed it down to my top 5 things for the summer even though
I could go on for days.

1.) Go to the farmers market.
Ours opened the first weekend in June and I am itching to go.
I went one time last summer with my mom, and I need to go back.
It does require getting up at 7 on a Saturday which is why I have not made it yet.

2.) Start working out again and run a Labor Day 5k
I have totally slacked off on working out and I really want to start up again.
I ran my first 5k last year and I really want to run more.
It always sucks to start from scratch but it needs to be done.
I just want it to be a part of life and not another "workout kick".
We live right by a great running trail so I have no excuses.
I WILL keep you updated.
SOMEDAY I would love to run a half marathon even though it seems
like an impossible goal. Any runners out there have running tips?
I would love to hear it.

3.) See as many friends and family as possible.
Planning a wedding for over a year makes for a busy year.
I finally feel like we now have more freedom to make those weekend trips.
We already have two trips planned for the summer.
One weekend my best friend and her boyfriend are coming to stay at our house which,
OMG I am so excited about.
We are also going to see all of David's family the weekend before the 4th of July.
 I love road trips.
Especially with Dave!

4.) Grill out in our backyard and have my family over!
We have yet to have my parents and sister and her family over for dinner.
Granted we have only lived here since the wedding,
but I want to make sure it happens this summer.

5.) Go to a baseball game!
I am sure you are all familiar with the Texas Rangers.
We live so close to the stadium
and even though I'm not some huge baseball fan,
baseball games are fun and I have been wanting to go for literally years.

I can't wait to start crossing things off the bucket list!

The time a blew my diet!

Well my weekend was a quick one.
David and I both worked all day Saturday.
So Saturday night, David took me out for a night on the town.
It was a good surprise.
Now, since the actual honeymoon is officially over,
I figured it was time to start eating like a civilized person again.
I would hate to gain the newlywed fifteen.
That is not a good look.

So this week we made a conscious effort to get back to a healthy diet.
Not to be confused with going on a diet.
We had lots of delicous healthy dinners....
And that all went out the window Saturday night:)
Being married means mastering the self timer.

We went to one of our favorite places, Pappadeaux!
Their food is to die for, and I have the pictures to prove it.
If you hate food pictures, run for you life.

It all started out very innocently with this amazing salad.
That just happened to be covered in bacon and bleu cheese dressing.

David went for the peppered tuna.

For dinner I had redfish covered in lobster with parmasean risotto.
It was just as good as it looks and sounds.

I also stole some of David's SIDE of onion rings.
Biggest side ever.

And here is the real kicker...
You will all be really jealous and want to hurt me.
I had had it before and I will have again.
Chocolate cake is my absolute favorite thing to eat in his world,
and this one is the best I have ever had,
And no, I did not share this. It was all mine.
I told David that if I went on that show,
"The Best Thing I Ever Ate", I would pick this.

We resumed back to normal tonight with a fabulous meal
of grilled chicken and broccoli. Whoo hoo.
I sincerely apologize for making an entire post on food.
Kind of....

I need you Nate Berkus

I need help and I need it now.
I have relapsed and have fallen back into my pinterest addiction.
I kind of fell off the bandwagon when I was BUSY planning my wedding.
But now I am a married woman with many free nights,
only to be found perusing pinterst day dreaming about decorating my house.
I talked in my last post about it being a work in progress, and that's ok with me.
My latest things to obsess over are as follows.

Number one....by far.
Our built in shelves in the living room.
They have SO much potential and I just want to create a fabulously eclectic display
like all of the picture perfect ones on pinterest.

I mean. It is just so perfectly haphazardly thrown together.
Next..our mantle.
I keep throwing up random things and taking them down.
Wash.Rinse.Repeat.
Enter pinterest.

So simple and pretty.
Maybe I just need to print some pictures and head to Home Goods.

And...The dining room table.
Now, this is no fancy schmancy dining room.
I just want something besides our huge box of cheez its from Sams on the table.

I love that crate with assorted dishes and flowers.
How can I make this happen?
Nate Berkus if you are reading this....Come on over and help a girl out!

Just hanging out

Yesterday while David was at work, my mom came over to help decorate our house.
It seems like a never ending process. But a fun one.
Yesterday was spent hanging lots of decor.
My picture wall is coming along nicely.
(even though when I look at this picture everything looks crooked.)
I swear in real life these things look straight. I'll  have to work on it.

I finally got all my jewelry from my parents house and hung it up in a little corner of our bedroom.
I had this in my bathroom before, but there is not enough wall space here.
There is plenty of wall space in our bedroom and I like  how it looks.
The bathroom door is directly right of this, and a window directly to the left.
I think it was a cute way to make up this little corner.
I also added this little frame above our dresser in the bedroom.
I am ready  to get our wedding pictures back so we can put up pictures of things other than ourselves.
I promise we are not in love with ourselves.

Lastly, I added this picture in the kitchen.
I love the rooster:)
Not to mention every word on there speaks the truth...

We also hung some curtains in the dining room,
and a few things in the guest bedrooms. Not in love with them though.
It is a work in progress and in my moms words "that's part of the fun."
Part of me agrees and part of me wants it all done asap.

Before David and I got married I lived at home for a year and half,
so it is fun to spend my Saturdays that David works with my mom.
We just did things around my house, went grocery shopping, and shopped for my sisters birthday,
but we had a great Saturday just hanging out. It was fun!

The honeymoon

Our honeymoon was fabulous.
We stayed at an all inclusive resort in Punta Cana which is in the Dominican Republic.
I wrote THIS post about where were going/staying when we booked it.
We were greeted with cold towels and pina coladas upon arrival!
The room and the view were beautiful.

This was the view from our balcony

We had the time of our lives doing nothing but relaxing.
The pool had a swim up bar which was way too convenient.
It was pure bliss.
The resort we stayed at was adult only, and usually felt completely deserted.
It was so nice.
At night we got to get all dressed up for nice dinners.

The food was great!
Shrimp and lobster. Yes please.
And David even cooked me dinner one night.
As you can guess,we were pretty sad to leave paradise.
Our main topic of conversation while we were there was when we could go back!
You would not want to leave this either.
We met a bunch of other couples that were on their honeymoon too.
We spent our afternoons mingling with them, drinking, and playing bingo in the pool.
We had such a blast, I can't even tell you!
I will tell you a little secret...
We were excited to come home.
To come home to our new house and just be husband and wife.
So far, it has been nothing but the best!

What we've been up to

Well hello. Did you miss me?
I have fallen off the planet due to having no internet.
We got back from our honeymoon one week ago and have entered the real world.
We have been settling into our new home and it has been great.
We have been running errands to exciting places like Lowes and Kroger.
To buy fancy things like plants
And groceries
Cooking dinners
And grilling out in our backyard:)
And taking this little baby out for a Friday night date
with Aunt Sissy and Uncle David.

You know...Just being married.
